Introducing Snapp Vault: Your App's Secret Keys, Locked Away

When you connect your app to an outside service, like an AI model, a database or a payment provider, you give Snapp a key for that service. Today we're introducing Snapp Vault, which keeps those keys where they belong: locked away on our servers, never inside your app.

Why your keys matter

A key works like the key to your house. Whoever holds it can act as you. If a secret key ends up in the wrong hands, someone can run up charges on your AI account, read or change the data in your database, or make requests in your name.

It happens more often than you'd think. Many app builders place keys directly inside the app, where anyone who downloads it or opens the website's files can dig them out. Last year, more than 170 apps made with one popular AI app builder were found exposing their users' data, and independent studies keep finding security flaws in a large share of AI-written code. On most platforms, getting this right is left to you, even if you've never written a line of code.

What Snapp Vault does

Snapp Vault takes that job off your plate:

• Your secret keys stay out of your app. They're stored encrypted on our servers. When your app needs a service, Snapp Vault handles the request and adds the key on our side, so it never appears in your mobile app or on your website.
• It knows which keys are secret. When you add a key, Snapp Vault works out whether it needs protecting. Keys that are designed to be public, stay in your app as intended. Secret ones stay with us.
• Your app's files are locked. Only you and the people you share your app with can open its preview files.
• There's nothing to set up. Add your keys in Settings → Environment as usual, and Snapp Vault does the rest.

Free and Premium

Keeping your keys safe means servers running around the clock for every request your app makes. For apps you've published to the stores, the first month is on us. After that, Premium keeps Snapp Vault running without interruption.

Common questions

Do I need to change anything in my app? No. Snapp Vault works automatically with the keys in your app's Environment settings.

Which keys does it protect? Any secret key you add: AI providers like OpenAI and Claude, your database's secret keys, payment keys and more.

Can I still see and change my keys? Yes. Your keys are still listed under Settings → Environment, where you can update or delete them any time.
